Paul Holmes, MP for Chesterfield, has welcomed a government decision to accept a Liberal Democrat amendment to the Pensions Bill, which is currently going through Parliament. The effect of the government's decision will be to ensure that 40,000 more carers get the basic state pension, including an estimated 66 in Chesterfield and 2860 people across the whole of the East Midlands.
Commenting on the continued failure of the Labour Government to disclose to the public the list of post offices facing closure, Paul Holmes, Liberal Democrat MP for Chesterfield said:
Ahead of the local elections on May 3rd, Liberal Democrats in Chesterfield are asking, "Will the government publish their post offices hit list?"
Paul Holmes, Liberal Democrat MP for Chesterfield is supporting a new Bill that aims to bring mobile phone masts under strict planning control and bring in the 'precautionary principle', giving extra safeguards for schools, homes, and medical facilities from the risk of excessive radiation.
Speaking in a House of Commons debate today on Community Radio and Television, Paul Holmes, Liberal Democrat MP for Chesterfield said: "The funding structures demanded for community radio stations may prevent more stations from being established and prevent those that have been given licences from taking to the air.
