Virtual hustings to be Held on Climate and Environment Issues
A virtual hustings will be held on Monday 12th April by Chesterfield Climate Alliance for the upcoming Derbyshire County Council elections.
The hustings will enable Chesterfield residents to question representatives of the local political parties on what they will do if elected, on the subject of climate, environment and nature.
Chesterfield Climate Alliance believe that local action must be central to fixing the climate crisis and delivering a green and fair recovery from COVID that benefits everyone. The group feel that Derbyshire County Council should do all it can to cut emissions in our area, and so are calling on all local political parties to pledge that their party will work with the local community to develop and implement an ambitious plan to cut emissions across Chesterfield.
Greg Hewitt of Chesterfield Climate Alliance said: "The benefits of this would go far beyond cutting carbon. Policies to cut emissions will also bring new jobs, cut energy bills, and make Chesterfield more pleasant place to live, with better public transport and more green spaces."The virtual hustings is taking place on Monday 12th April, 7pm, via Zoom.
