Super Skate Park given Seal of Approval
Paul Holmes, Liberal Democrat MP for Chesterfield, was proud to open the new Brearley Skate Park this weekend. The newly built facility which is situated between Old and New Whittington includes a Multi Use Games area which can be used for Football, Basketball and Netball. The Skate Park features quarter pipes, pyramids and grinding rails which the local skateboarders can now enjoy.
Groundwork Creswell, Chesterfield Borough Council and the Friends of Brearley Park have worked in partnership to construct the site. Funding for the park was provided by Liberal Democrat run Chesterfield Borough Council, The Barrow Hill and Whittington Community Forum and Barclays Spaces for Sport. Barbara Wallis, Chair of the Friends of Brearley Park said 'It's great to see all our hard work paying off. The Park will play a vital role in the community, giving young people somewhere fun and interesting to spend their free time.'
Paul Holmes MP said 'The new Brearley Skate Park and Multi Use Games Area is an excellent facility for the young people in Chesterfield. The Friends of Brearley Park have worked hard over the past five years to get the Skate Park constructed. The games area and Skateboarding facilities will give the young people who live locally a great place to go and meet friends or play sport. There is something for everyone to enjoy at the park, making it a fantastic addition to the local area.'
Our thanks go to Barclays who provided goody bags to the first 50 people at the opening and helped make it a success.
