Solar Electricity for Council Homes.

A scheme put in place by the former Liberal Democrat Borough Council is set to benefit 500 Council homes and hopefully many more eventually. The scheme uses money from Council Home rents ( which can only be spent on Counil Home improvements ) to install photo-voltaic panels, which produce electricity from the sun, on the 500 homes. This will mean that those who live in the homes will get a good amount of free electricity every year, while the Borough Council will get money from the government every year for making use of solar electricity - and thus helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissionss. Eventually it is hoped to roll out the scheme to benefit many more Council tenants.

The Borough Council is also to fit the panels on several more public buildings - which will save money for all Chesterfield Council Tax payers whilst also help Chesterfield set a good example by doing even more to cut greenhouse gas emissions and make the borough a greener place. Yet another 'green' scheme initiated by the former Liberal Democrat Borough Council.
