Labour Government's Post Office Slaughter Condemned by Paul Holmes MP

5 Aug 2008

Today's (Tuesday 5th August) shocking news that 5 more Chesterfield Post Offices are slated for closure has been condemned by local MP Paul Homes.

"7 more out of the 22 remaining leaves Chesterfield with a skeleton service" he said.

"We have already lost 1 in 3 Post Offices locally during previous rounds of Governments closures which have seen 7000 Post Offices shut nationwide - followed by another 2,500 now"

These closures leave local communities especially the poor, elderly and parents with toddlers, with long journeys using sometimes uncertain bus routes, to reach the nearest alternative"

"Instead of taking business away from our community Post Offices (Pensions, TV Licenses and the new threat to Post Office Card Accounts) the Government should adopt the Liberal Democrats proposals to invest £2 Billion in helping develop new business."

Alternatively you can send letters direct to Royal Mail on: National Consultation Team, Post Office Ltd, FREEPOST CONSULTATION TEAM and copies can be sent to Postwatch: FREEPOST POSTWATCH.
