Join the Real Opposition
Last Saturday (24th September), Jeremy Corbyn was re-elected as Labour Leader. Meanwhile Labour's Poll ratings have fallen to their lowest ever.
The re-election of Jeremy Corbyn means that Labour's internal war will continue. He has the support of only one in five Labour MPs, noticeably not including Chesterfield's Labour MP, who resigned from the shadow cabinet in an attempt to force Jeremy Corbyn to resign earlier this year. Labour can't even form an opposition, never mind an alternative Government.
Labour under Jeremy Corbyn have been haemorrhaging support. Residents of Chesterfield need a strong and effective opposition to the Conservatives and a strong voice on local issues. They know they can't get that from Labour under Jeremy Corbyn. Only the Liberal Democrats want a Britain that is open, tolerant and united. The Labour Leadership result shows that only the Liberal Democrats can provide the opposition to the Conservatives our area needs - proven by the Liberal Democrat's recent local by-election wins in former Labour strongholds such as Mosborough in Sheffield and Tupton just outside Chesterfield.
1,500 people have joined the Liberal Democrats this week, 500 of them on Saturday alone in despair at Corbyn's re election.
