Help Us Put the Play back into Playground
The popular children's play area in the corner of Badger Recreation Park In Chesterfield is under threat. After a notice placed on the railings was spotted by a resident, Brockwell Cllr, Katherine Hollingworth, immediately contacted Chesterfield Borough Council only to learn that the play equipment is unsafe and needs to be removed.
At the moment there are no plans to replace the equipment. Cllr Hollingworth said " I am particularly saddened that the Badger Recreation Park will be without a children's play area this summer. A local play area is a wonderful way for parents to introduce young children to playground equipment and encourage them to play outdoors with other children in their community".
Cllr Davenport also from Brockwell Ward, adds that "local residents can rest assured that we are doing all we can to sort this situation and stop the play facility from being lost. As soon as we know more we will let you know. "
One way forward would be to develop a "Friends of Badger Park" group This would give all members of the community the opportunity to work together to have a say in the future of the park. If you want to be involved in saving and improving the Badger Recreation Play Area please contact Katherine on katherine.hollingworth@chesterfield.gov.uk or write to her at Chesterfield Town Hall.
