Howard Borrell, Liberal Democrat Shadow Lead for Town Centre and Visitor Economy writes that every year the German city of Darmstadt hosts the Schlossgrabenfest, one of the biggest music festivals in Europe. https://www.schlossgrabenfest.<wbr>de/2019/
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Chesterfield's twinning link with Darmstadt local band, Clear Vinyl, were invited to perform.....and perform they did last Saturday at 17.30 local time.
Most of the band are keen Chesterfield FC supporters and the band presented two Chesterfield shirts to Darmstadt football club. In return the local club presented SV Darmstadt 98 shirts to the five band members with the hope that the friendship link between the two clubs will grow.
Last year almost half a million people attended the music festival and this year proved equally popular with Clear Vinyl wowing the appreciative audience. Football club Supporter Liaison Officer, Eric Eichhorn explained "We were really pleased to welcome the guys to the football club. We hope the exchange of shirts leads to further exchanges between both clubs. The locals loved the wearing of the Lilies' shirts and the flag of St George. Everyone in Darmstadt is proud of the link with Chesterfield and we hope this latest connection continues to build that bond."
Ulyana Vynyarchuk of Darmstadt's Office for Intercultural and International Affairs thanked Howard for his work declaring "This is the best example for the city-partnership in action! "
