Back to the Future?

Without the moderating influence of common sense Liberal Democrats the Conservative Government, since May, has already returned to the controversial Right Wing policies it last imposed in the 1980's.

Now, right on cue, Labour too have lurched back to the extreme left wing policies they last pursued when fighting Margaret Thatcher. Proposals by Labour's new Leadership Team have included leaving NATO and praising IRA terrorists as heroes who brought peace.

In Chesterfield too Labour are repeating their disastrous internal in fighting of the 1980's with right wing Blairite MP, Toby Perkins, running the failed campaign of Leadership contender Liz Kendall (who gained a humiliating 4.5% of the vote) and so prompting internal splits with the traditional Hard Left who remain strong in Chesterfield Labour Party.

The Liberal Democrats, locally and nationally, boosted by a new leader in Tim Farron and thousands of new members, continue to offer an alternative vision where success can be achieved through consensus, encouragement, hard work and innovation. A society that encourages prosperity and individual freedom whilst looking after those who need support.
