Autumn Conference 2013: Protecting Children from Online Pornography
Autumn Conference was a great opportunity for Liberal Democrats to meet and discuss policy. This year's topics included such policies as land reform, green jobs, and improving the quality of home care in the UK.
East Midlands PPC Julia Cambridge proposed amendments to Lib Dem Peer Floella Benjamin's motion, titled, "Protecting Children Against Online Pornography".
Following the speech Julia Cambridge said, "Children are being harmed by an endless uncensored diet of easily available explicit images over the internet.
"I am proud that the Liberal Democrats are the only major party to take this sort of issue to its members and look for an answer. I hope others will follow as it is obviously something we should all be concerned about."
She continued, "As Liberal Democrats we prize our freedom above all else, but I do passionately believe we should be acting in the greater good and not in self interest when it comes to children. I was very pleased at the support this motion received, and at the words of encouragement I received afterwards."
