Residents are furious about plans for an Incinerator on Sheepbridge Lane in Dunston. Paul Holmes MP, County Cllr Mark Higginbottom and local Lib Dem Councillors have all, repeatedly, made it publicly clear that they oppose the application for the incinerator in Dunston.
Mark immediately delivered much of Dunston and Linacre to inform the residents of the planned Incinerator after Labour-run Derbyshire County Council failed to inform all residents about the plans.
On 26th January 2009 Chesterfield Borough Council's Planning Committee unanimously recommended rejection of the proposal. However ultimate responsibility for the processing of the application is down to Labour - run Derbyshire County Council.
Lib Dem Cllr Mark Higginbottom is committed to raising the concerns of local residents at full meetings of Councillors at Matlock and will keep residents up to date with any developments on the application.
Labour have now said any decision will have to wait until at least late summer. Angry local residents want to know why they have to wait until after the County Elections? What do Labour have to hide? Cllr Mark Higginbottom said, "This means yet more uncertainty for local residents and businesses. There is clearly local anger with Labour-run Derbyshire County Council.
Contrast their approach to that of Chesterfield Borough Council which sent a clear 'No' about this proposal to County Hall.
Mark will continue to press the County Council to say 'No' to this Incinerator!
The controversial post box that was placed on Kendal Road and replaced the one formerly outside the shop has now been moved. Residents were unhappy with the location of the post box after Royal Mail cited the box without asking your local Councillors where they should put it. The new post box is now outside the Gorman Close bungalows, so hopefully it will be more convenient for local residents.
The windows of one of the rooms at the Church on Ulverston Road have been broken in a random attack of vandalism in the area. 10 panes were smashed despite being double-glazed. The windows face out onto the alleyway that runs by the side of the Church. Your local Councillors have reported it to the police who are investigating the situation. We have been working hard to tackle the issue of anti social behaviour and vandalism in the area and thought progress had been made. Please let us know if you have any information in connection with the criminal damage, or contact the police in confidence.
We are pleased to announce that your brand new Lidl store is soon to open-on the 7th February in fact! Your local Lib Dem Councillors Pat Proctor, Tony Fields and Lee Cooper have been working closely throughout the process with Lidl bosses and eagerly await the opening of the store. We know it will make a real difference to the community, but keep in touch and let us know what you think!
Your local Dunston Councillors Tony Fields, Pat Proctor and Lee Cooper have worked hard to finally get the Martin's Walk area cleaned up-for good! After years of Labour neglect it's taken a sustained effort to get the result, but we've done it. The site was dangerous before, with litter and drug remnants as well as being a site for vandals to congregate.
Cllrs Pat Proctor and Tony Fields have worked for a number of years to acheive the clearing of Martin's Walk.
Dedicated local Lib Dems Cllrs Lee Cooper, Pat Proctor and Tony Fields are celebrating the news that thanks to their sustained hard work, Lidl are on their way! The new and improved Lidl store will be a vital asset to Newbold. We have been campaigning from the start to ensure you have a good local supermarket, and have enjoyed working with Lidl bosses to ensure your store will be bigger and better than ever!
Thanks to your local lib Dems, Lidl will soon be serving Newbold residents.
