Stronger together for Britain

May 25, 2009 12:00 AM

On June 4th you will get the chance to vote for our East Midlands representatives on the European Parliament. Our local MEP Bill Newton Dunn is the most experienced of all British MEP's and has lived in the region for over 30 Years.

In Europe Bill has backed action to create jobs, tackle climate change and cut crime. By working together in Europe with our neighbours we are catching more criminals and getting help for East Midlands consumers.

Locally Bill has worked closely with Paul Holmes MP and the Chesterfield Liberal Democrats to get a better deal for local residents. He has supported the campaign asking Brown's Government to fully fund its "free" concessionary bus fare scheme. Chesterfield has been left underfunded by over £1.5 million a year causing job losses and service cuts at Chesterfield Borough Council.

The Conservatives believe that Britain should turn its back on working with other countries in Europe. Labour has proved ineffective on the big issues. Only the Liberal Democrats want to work with our neighbours to get action to help people everyday.

Stronger together or poorer apart - it's your choice!

THE LIBERAL DEMOCRAT TEAM FOR THE EAST MIDLANDS:

2. Ed Maxfield

3. Cllr Denise Hawksworth
