HOLMES WELCOMES BOOTS BREAST CANCER CARE SERVICES TO CHESTERFIELD

On 27 February 2008 a Boots store will host Breast Cancer Care's services for the first time in a bid to bring support for people affected by breast cancer to the high street.
The Wellbeing Evening will be trialed in the Boots Chesterfield store, so that women diagnosed with breast cancer can access Breast Cancer Care's practical services on the high street, in a safe and trusted environment. If the pilot proves successful, the service could be rolled out nationwide.
Breast Cancer Care already offers emotional and practical support services free to 741-anyone diagnosed with breast cancer, but this trial would make its services even more accessible. With 120 people being diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK every day, the pilot will be welcome news to many who are struggling to come to terms with their diagnosis.
Welcoming the pilot scheme, Paul Holmes, Liberal Democrat MP for Chesterfield said:
"I have always supported campaigns to raise awareness about Breast Cancer and I am happy to support this scheme that will ensure that no women have to face their diagnosis alone.
"Over 44,000 people will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2008 alone and the work of Boots and Breast Cancer Care will provide women with invaluable tips on how to look after themselves and deal with the side effects of treatment.
"I am delighted that these services are being made more accessible and will be able to reach more people who can benefit from the care and support that this provides."
